Mistarille

My second "distraction project" is done! Mistarille hat, cowl and mitts. The shine of the silk yarn made me think of metal, more precisely Mithril, the precious metal of the dwarves in The Lord of the Ring. Feathery light and superstrong, just as silk. Unfortunately there are loads of patterns with Mithril in the name on Ravelry. So I continued searching, and found there was another name, in another elf dialect, Mistarille.

All three parts share a combination of two old lace pattern. The hat was knit rather long, creating a nice slouch at the back. It could be worked shorter too, like a beanie or chemo cap.

The lace edge is knit on sidewise. On the cowl and the mitts, it is worked two times in every stitch, making it flare a bit. On the hat it is worked once in some stitches, and twice in others, making the edge the same width as the hat.

My eight year old son helped with the photos, so they are not the sharpest, but I'm still very happy! Test knitting will start soon on Ravelry, go here if you'd like to join.
